The pandemic brought a change in business structure and employment throughout the area however, according to the Arizona Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO), manufacturing jobs increased from 134,800 to 135,400 March 2020 to March 2021.
In May of 2020, the workforce was at its lowest at 127,500 but by June, about 2,500 were regained. Manufacturing jobs are now currently on the rise.

The greater Phoenix area is now being called “a global center for technology manufacturing.” Within the last four years, multiple tech manufacturing companies have moved their headquarters to Phoenix. Under construction as of May 2021 off Interstate 17, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) announced its $12 billion facility in Phoenix.
